It all began with an idea.

As my oldest child approched Kindergarten, I really began to question what was important in his schooling experience. The decade that I spent working in a variety of public schools, researching, and developing as a professional, had created a strong sense of what is good for kids, and what is not. I knew that what he needed was: structured literacy instruction, tailored to his needs, opportunities to experience the world, opportunities to learn how to interact with people in the world and regulate his emotions, hands on activities that fostered his natural interests and introduced him to new things. So that is what I set off to create for him and the rest of my children. But Iā€™m not the kind of person that could stop there. Education is an equity issue and ALL children deserve the right to an education that is intentionally designed to grow them into the best version of themselves. This desire to support all students led me to leave my full time position and begin consulting with districts, teachers, and parents simarly committed to providing the best opportunities for their kids.

Having worked with many schools within the Western Suburbs, I am an experienced educator, educational leader, and facilitator who is passionate about student-centered, intentional learning. I have expertise in the areas of curiculum design, instructional coaching, SOR aligned literacy instruction, play-based learning, project-based learning, and personalized learning. Throughout my career, in addition to homeschoolng my own children, I have had the opportunity to work as a teacher and teacher leader in various educational settings from urban to rural, PreK-8.

I hold degrees from ISU, Lewis University, and Aurora University, and I am currently pursuing my doctoral degree at Aurora University.

The drive behind my work is my firm belief that each child is unique and there is no one size fits all approach to education. By being intentional in our instrucitonal design, we can ensure that all kids have the education they deserve.
